How we source our figures
Every figure on Bunkerley comes from official UK advice. If we can't find an official source for a figure, we don't show it.
Where our figures come from
We only use:
- gov.uk Prepare, the government's guide to preparing for emergencies
- the British Red Cross
- the Met Office, for weather warnings
- the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, SEPA and NI Direct, for flooding
- Power Cut 105 and the network operators, for power cuts
- the Priority Services Register
- the NHS, for anything to do with health
That covers things like how much water to keep per person, how many days of supplies to plan for, what goes in a kit, which number to call and what each warning level means.
How we check them
For every figure we keep a record of the official page it comes from, the exact words on that page, and the date we checked it. You'll see that as a line under every result: "Source: gov.uk Prepare, checked" and the date.
Our site won't publish a figure until it has been checked against its source. If official advice changes, we update the figure and the date.
What we don't do
- We don't fill in figures from memory or from other websites.
- We don't copy or re-host live official data, such as flood warnings or power cut maps. We link you to the official service instead.
- We don't invent search volumes, traffic or "most popular" claims.
Prices
Where we show a price, it comes from the retailer's own UK store or an official affiliate feed, with the date it was checked. We never scrape prices.
