Work it out for your home

Worked example

For a home in England:

  • Call 105: it puts you through to your local network operator, whoever your energy supplier is.
  • Find your operator by postcode: Power Cut 105: find your network operator.
  • Network operators in England: UK Power Networks, National Grid Electricity Distribution, Northern Powergrid, Electricity North West, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, SP Energy Networks.

In a power cut you call your network operator, the company that runs the cables to your home. It's usually not the company you pay your bill to. Pick where you live to get the number and the right links.

How it works

We don't look up your postcode or hold any data of our own. We point you to the official services: the national power cut number and each network operator's own site, where you can report a cut and check for updates.

FAQs

Do I call my energy supplier?

No. Your supplier sends the bills, but your network operator fixes power cuts.

What if someone at home needs extra help?

Join the Priority Services Register. It's free, and it tells your network operator to give your household extra help in a power cut.
